This collaborative and co-authored project commemorating our past pets on the chairs of Elsewhere Museum was initiated by artist-in-residence Manon Wada with house manager/curator/artist Avery Rose.
Elsewhere Pet Memorial is both virtual providing remote access online and kinetic with inscribed chairs moving throughout the museum.
Herstory Census is a socially engaged, collaborative and co-authored project created by co-conveners Sonia Mañjon and Manon Wada with web designers Alice Lin and Daisy Ozim. This project features a collection of writing from women of color, which reports incidents of injustice and is rooted in a restorative practice. Herstory Census intends to offer a visible and accessible platform to record, witness, and share each other’s stories. This web-based project was materially presented as an installation in 2021 at Whitney Center for the Arts in Pittsfield, MA, for Rites of Passage Project.
Web-based project community poetree archives 85 responses to the question: what do you leave behind when you depart?
The interactive text is made up of snippets from each contributor’s written submissions, which were then spliced together into a co-authored poem. An audio recording of Manon reciting the poem is embedded in the website.
